Congress has tried and failed to pass health care reform on numerous occasions, and now President Trump is insinuating that he will take executive action on health care.
\nAccording to Fox News, the White House has been drafting an executive order that would allow Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines and to form groups to purchase health insurance collectively like a business. President Trump\u2019s latest tweet reinforces these early reports.<\/p>\n
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), who has been pushing for these changes, praised Trump\u2019s executive proposal. \u201cThis will be a great plan & a big deal for millions of Americans. I\u2019ve been working with @realDonaldTrump for months on this. Details soon!\u201d Paul tweeted.Last week, while meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Trump discussed the rough outline of his plan. \u201cThey\u2019ll be able to buy, they\u2019ll be able to cross state lines and they will get great, competitive health care and it will cost the United States nothing,\u201d Trump told Kissinger.\u201cI decided to take it upon myself,\u201d Trump said in response to a deadlocked Congress.Republicans in Congress have been unable to compromise on a repeal or replacement of The Affordable Care Act despite controlling the House and the Senate. According to the Republican Party platform, which was approved by delegates at the 2016 Republican National Convention, the party\u2019s official platform is the \u201crepeal of the dishonestly named Affordable Care Act of 2010: Obamacare.\u201d<\/p>\n
