{"id":126677,"date":"2017-10-27T13:03:11","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T13:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tpgold.com\/?p=126677"},"modified":"2017-10-26T04:32:11","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T04:32:11","slug":"the-association-between-exaggeration-in-health-related-science-news-and-academic-press-releases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tpgold.com\/?p=126677","title":{"rendered":"The association between exaggeration in health related science news and academic press releases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The framing of health related information in the national and international media, and the way in which audiences decode it, has complex and potentially powerful impacts on healthcare utilisation and other health related behaviour in many countries.<\/p>\n<p>In this research Petroc et al set out to identify the source (press releases or news) of distortions, exaggerations, or changes to the main conclusions drawn from research that could potentially influence a reader\u2019s health related behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>They conclude that exaggeration in news is strongly associated with exaggeration in press releases.
