After many faithful years of service, Pope Benedict resigns. The Pope will be the first in almost 600 years to ever step down. This decision comes only a few months after he had surgery replacing his pacemaker. The Vatican hopes for a new Pope to be elected by Easter. Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana and Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria are rumored to be candidates for the position which could mean the first black pope in history. Regardless of who is the next Pope, replacing Benedict's legacy will be hard to do.
