In a city destroyed by a 20 year civil war, getting medical attention in Mogadishu is almost impossible. Although the African Union does operate a few clinics at their army bases, and the Somali government has just opened a new hospital, NGOs are staying away. Ebola outbreak an ‘international emergency’ – World Health Organisation

The United Nations World Health Organisation (WHO) has described the Ebola outbreak in West Africa as an "international emergency".

At a news conference during crisis talks in Geneva, WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan stressed the need for a coordinated international response to the most severe Ebola outbreak ever recorded.
