एक नई स्टडी के मुताबिक जो वजन के मामले में फिट होते हैं लेकिन निंतब, जांघ और पांव में फैट ज़्यादा होता है उनमें स्ट्रोक, डायबिटीज और हार्ट अटैक की आशंका कम होती है.
सेल रिसर्च जर्नल में यह स्टडी छपी है. इस शोध के अनुसार जिन लोगों के निचले हिस्से में फैट कम होता है उनमें हृदय रोग और मौत की आशंका ज़्यादा होती है.
हालांकि यह शोध भारी-भकरम लोगों पर लागू नहीं होता है. इसका कारण यह है कि भारी-भरकम लोगों के फेफड़े और हृदय के आसपास चर्बी ज़्यादा होती है और इनमें हार्ट अटैक की आशंका पहले से ही ज़्यादा होती है.
डायबिटीज विशेषज्ञ डॉ नोर्बर्ट स्टीफन ने इस शोध के समर्थन में कहा कि स्वस्थ वजन वाले वे लोग ज़्यादा दुरुस्त होते हैं जिनके शरीर का आकार सेब की तुलना में नाशपाती की तरह होता है.
नितंब और जांघ चर्बी को खपाने के लिए सुरक्षित जगह हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि पेट की चर्बी की तुलना में जांघ और नितंब की चर्बी ठीक होती है.
इस शोध के मुताबिक पेट की चर्बी ख़ून में फैटी एसिड ज़्यादा छोड़ती है. इसके कारण डायबिटीज, इन्सुलिन प्रतिरोधक और कोलेस्ट्रोल का ख़तरा बढ़ता है.
